Curbing Human Trafficking & Migrants Smuggling Workshop

Integrated and Holistic Strategies for Mitigating Undocumented, Irregular and Forced Migration

The phenomenon of Migrants Smuggling and human trafficking (undocumented, forced and irregular migration) especially those involving child trafficking, lack of opportunities for self-actualization, development and improvement within immediate environments, corruption, poverty, marginalization, deprivation, illiteracy and inequitable distribution of resources are intrinsically intertwined multifaceted human and minority rights, social, cultural, humanitarian and economic development problems. These challenges, also affects social cohesion, human development, the rights to self-actualization and determination, peace, safety and security, a bad situation that has become a blot on the conscience of society.

This not withstanding, critical analysis, monitoring and observation of the various strategies adopted to leverage human trafficking and migrants smuggling indicates that such programs are concentrated on law enforcement agencies and other few social welfare and services organizations.
